Music therapy is an evidence-based healthcare profession that uses music intentionally to support individualized, non-musical goals. At Hope & Harmony, our board-certified music therapists use singing, instruments, movement, and musical play to help children develop skills in areas such as communication, emotional regulation, social connection, motor development, and attention.
Every session is tailored to your child’s unique strengths, needs, and goals.
Music lessons focus on learning musical skills, while enrichment classes offer opportunities for musical exploration, development, and connection. Music therapy uses music as a therapeutic tool to work toward specific developmental, communication, social-emotional, or functional goals.
At Hope & Harmony, music is the tool—not the treatment itself. Our music therapists use their clinical training to create purposeful musical experiences that support meaningful growth.
Music therapy can benefit children with a wide range of strengths and support needs, including children with autism, speech and language delays, developmental differences, ADHD, sensory processing differences, emotional regulation challenges, and neurological conditions.
Your child does not need a formal diagnosis to explore music therapy. We’ll work with you to understand your concerns and determine whether our services may be a good fit.
Depending on your child’s individual goals, music therapy may support:
Communication and language development
Emotional expression and self-regulation
Social interaction and connection
Attention, listening, and memory
Motor coordination and movement
Confidence, independence, and self-expression
Goals are individualized, and progress looks different for every child.
Sessions may include singing, instrument play, movement, musical games, familiar songs, and opportunities for your child to make choices and interact with the therapist. Activities are selected intentionally to support your child’s goals while keeping sessions engaging and responsive to their needs.
No two children—and no two sessions—are exactly alike!
Parent involvement depends on your child’s needs, goals, and stage of development. We value collaboration with families and want you to feel confident carrying strategies into everyday routines at home. Your therapist can share ideas, discuss progress, and help you find practical ways to support your child between sessions.
Absolutely! Music therapy can complement other therapies and educational supports. Our therapists focus on individualized goals that may overlap with areas addressed by other providers, while bringing a unique perspective through music. When appropriate and with your permission, collaboration can help create more consistent support across your child’s daily environments.
Absolutely! We know it can be hard to know whether something will be the right fit for your child until you experience it firsthand. That’s why we offer a $50 introductory session to give your child a chance to experience music therapy and give us an opportunity to get to know your child, learn more about their needs, and explore how music might support their goals.
There’s no pressure to have everything figured out beforehand. We’ll use this first session to help you understand what music therapy could look like for your child and determine whether moving forward feels like the right fit for your family.
The first step is to fill out our inquiry form. We’ll learn more about your child, answer your questions, and talk through your goals and our services. If music therapy seems like a good fit, we’ll schedule an introductory session.
